MaritzCX Study: US Population is Excited for the new Star Wars Movie “Solo”
A MaritzCX survey fielded in mid-May found that 63% of the population plans to pay to see Solo. 47% of respondents plan to see Solo in the theatre (18% plan to attend either a prescreening or screening within the week of release) and another 16% plan to see the movie over pay-per-view or DVD/Blu-Ray.
In our survey of 512 adults, 27% had seen all nine Star Wars movies to date and 18% had not seen a single move. There were large differences in Star Wars viewing by gender, with 35% of males versus 20% of females having seen all of the Star Wars movies and only 11% of men versus 23% of women having seen none of the Star Wars movies.
Our study found that, among those who had seen at least one Star Wars movie, the favorites movies were mostly from the original trilogy with “Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back” ranking highest, earning 30% of the vote, “Episode VI: Return of the Jedi” netting 25% of the responses and “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope” receiving 16% of the votes.
