With gas cheap, more car shoppers shun hybrids, plug-ins
With gas prices low, more car shoppers appear to be whacking gas-saving hybrids or plug-in hybrids off their shopping lists, a new study finds.
Among families looking for a new midsize SUV in 2015, almost all — 97% — looked at gasoline-powered models and about one out of four considered a hybrid, says MaritzCX, which conducts an extensive survey of car buyers. By comparison, in 2012, 65% considered gas-powered models and 35% were interested in a hybrid.
