MaritzCX supports Ocean Reunion in the 2015 Transatlantic Row
LA GOMERA– December 20, 2015 – The MaritzCX team is honoured to support Ocean Reunion as they take part in the 2015 Transatlantic Row. The challenge is known as the world’s toughest row, conquering 3,000 miles across the Atlantic over a period of 40 to 90 days.
This year 26 teams will participate from six countries, including the UK’s Ocean Reunion team sponsored by MaritzCX. The team chose to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust and Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Ocean Reunion is aiming to raise £100,000 for the charities. They also established a goal of finishing the Transatlantic Row in 40 days in order to beat the record for a four-handed crew. The team consists of personal trainer and endurance coach Gus Barton, semi-professional cricketer Joe Barnet, long distance triathlon athlete Jack Mayhew, and rowing world-record setter Angus Collins.
The Teenage Cancer Trust was chosen after one of the team’s friends fell severely ill with Leukaemia while they were in school together. The team’s friend is now living a healthy life thanks to extensive research and support.
Cystic Fibrosis was also selected to receive partial funds as it is near to the hearts of a major sponsor’s family. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust positively impacts the lives of people with cystic fibrosis and those who care for them on a daily basis.
Donations can be made to either charity. More information about the team and the race can be found here:
