Last month I shared several interesting findings regarding the saving and planning behaviors of near and recent retirees. Today, however, I’m going to take a step back and ask, “Is there even such a thing as ‘retirement age’ anymore?”
According to the latest findings of the 2013 Maritz Research Retirement Study (which were recently reported in an article from USA Today) the notion of a true retirement age is quickly becoming passé.
Most of those surveyed believe that retirement is an outdated concept. That’s reflected by the almost 37 percent of those nearing retirement age who believe they will have to work during their retirement, and about one-third (36 percent) of near retirees who expect to delay their retirement altogether.
What are your thoughts on our latest Retirement Study findings? Do you believe retirement age is a thing of the past?
